The Manager of the Year Award is one of the important awards presented by Major League Baseball (MLB). This award is dedicated to the managers of all the thirty teams in the league. Managers play an important role in guiding their team to becoming the MLB World Series Champions every season. There are two of these awards, one presented to a manager from the National League (NL) and the other given to a manager from the American League (AL).
The Manager of the Year Award has been presented to managers in both leagues since 1983. Notably, Tony La Russa was the first AL manager of the Year while Tommy Lasorda was the first NL Manager of the Year in 1983. The most recent recipients of these awards are Pat Murphy of the Milwaukee Brewers as the NL Manager of the Year and Stephen Vogt of the Cleveland Guardians as the AL Manager of the Year in 2024.
