Precious Achiuwa is a Nigerian professional basketball player who plays for the New York Knicks in the NBA. Born on September 19, 1999, Achiuwa was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, but his family moved to the US when he was a teenager.
Achiuwa was a five-star athlete in high school and spent one year at Memphis University (2019–2020), where he played alongside former AAU teammate Lester Quinones and top recruit James Wiseman. He was named AAC Freshman of the Year as well as AAC Player of the Year in 2020.
Drafted 20th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat, Achiuwa is known as a traditional athletic big man who can also shoot the long ball. In his four-year career, Achiuwa has been part of two major trades. First, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors along with Goran Dragic in a sign-and-trade deal for Kyle Lowry. Later, he was traded to the New York Knicks alongside O.G. Anunoby in 2024. Over 49 games for the Knicks in the 2023/24 NBA season, Achiuwa averaged 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
