The Ambetter Health 400 is the second race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, according to NASCAR’s official schedule. It will succeed the popular Daytona 500 race. The Ambetter Health 400 race has been an important part of NASCAR’s history. In its initial years, the race served as the final event of the NASCAR Cup Series season often turning out to be the championship decider. In 2022, Ambetter Health 400 set a record for having the most lead changes throughout the race. The race lead passed between 20 people throughout the race changing 46 times in total.

Ambetter and Atlanta have a long history together. When the race was inaugurated, it used to be Atlanta’s second race of the season. However from the 2011 season, the Ambetter Health 400 has clinched the crown of Atlanta’s only NASCAR race. The history of the Ambetter 400 is one of the most interesting in NASCAR.

The 1992 Hooters 500 has been hailed by NASCAR enthusiasts as the greatest race in the history of NASCAR. The race was a dramatic end to the story of Richard Petty, a legend in NASCAR. It was a six-way championship battle which was ultimately conquered by Bill Elliot.

The race was introduced in 1960 with the Dixie 300. In the following years, the number of miles in the race increased to 500. The race has changed names 13 times in total. It used to be the last race of the season and the championship decider from 1987 to 2001. A problem arose due to the fact that the championship usually ended much before the last race of the season, rendering the final race boring and anticlimactic. A strange situation happened during the 1993 Hooters 500. Dale Earnhardt was leading the championship and eight cars dropped out of the race. He would have easily won the championship even if he finished last.

The race was shortened in 2023 to 400 miles after its long standing format of 500 mile racing. This was in conjunction with a new surface, made to emulate superspeedways. The 2024 Ambetter Health 400 race was won by Daniel Suarez.
