Houston Texans wide receiver Diontae Johnson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft with the 66th overall pick. The Tampa native is in his sixth season of pro career and has played for four teams as of 2024. He started his football career at Earl J. Lennard High School in Ruskin, Florida. In his four years with the Toledo Rockets, the 28-year-old wideout had 2,302 scrimmage yards and 24 total touchdowns (via Sports Reference).

Johnson’s first three seasons in the NFL saw his production grow leaps and bounds every year, as he recorded 680, 923, and 1161 receiving yards in 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively (via Pro Football Reference). His performance was rewarded by a lucrative 2-year, $36.71 million extension Pittsburgh signed him to. However, Johnson could never replicate his 2020 and 2021 season form as he could never cross 900 yards in his last two years with the Steelers (via Pro Football Focus). In 2024, Pittsburgh traded Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, where he accumulated 357 yards in 7 games (via Pro Football Focus). On October 29, 2024, Baltimore Ravens scooped him up before the trade deadline. However, Johnson’s tenure with the Ravens was a disappointment as he had a mere 6 yards in 4 games with the team (via Pro Football Focus). After getting waived by the Ravens, the Texans claimed him on December 23, 2024.
